Artist Information

Art of the Park is an exciting new arts and music event at Rye Town Park May 14-15, 2011. In the event of severe weather, a rain date of May 21-22 has been scheduled. The first day of the event will be a plein air paint out in the Park with an Artist Reception and cocktail party followed by a live auction of the works painted that day. There will also be a two-day juried exhibit of select works by the participating artists with cash prizes.The second day will be a fine arts and craft fair. Live music will be happening both days as well.



This event is open to all fine artists and craftspeople. Please read the detailed information below regarding participating in the Plein Air Paint Out portion of the event or in the Fine Craft portion.



There is a $10.00 registration fee payable with the artist application.



PLEIN AIR PAINTERS

We are looking for artists who can complete a painting, size of your choice, on location at Rye Town Park that will be sold in a live auction that evening. In addition, during the entire event, up to 3 completed works will be displayed under the pavilions as part of a juried exhibit to be judged by Beverly Sassone, owner of Gallery 52 in Rye.

3 cash prizes will be awarded as follows:

Best in Show $150

1st Runner Up $100

2nd Runner Up $75

A 30% commission will be taken on any works sold from the juried exhibit and a 40% commission will be taken on the works sold at the auction. A portion of the auction proceeds will go to benefit the Friends of Rye Town Park and their continued efforts to beautify the park.

Artists will receive free admission to the Reception and Cocktail Party.

Artists will also receive a 10 x 10 space at the following day's event which is the fine arts and craft portion of the event. No commissions will be taken from works sold by artists at their booth.

There is a $10 registration fee and a $100 booth fee to participate as a Plein Air Painter. We have only 20 spots for Plein Air Painters. If you would like to participate as one, please indicate so on the artist application. Mail the completed application and $10 registration fee to Heather Patterson before April 15, 2011. Notification of acceptance will be emailed within 10 days of reciept of application.

You will not receive a space assignment until you are paid in full.

FINE CRAFTS



We are looking for unique craft items in all media. The fine art and craft portion of the event will be held on Sunday May 15th from 10 am to 6 pm.

Booth Spaces are $100.00 for a 10' x 10' space payable upon acceptance. No commissions will be taken. We have a limited number of spaces available and will be assigning them on a “first come first served” basis. To apply, complete the artist application and mail it to Heather Patterson along with the $10 registration fee before April 15, 2011. Notification of acceptance will be emailed within 10 days of reciept of application.

Information for all participants

Artists will provide their own transportation and booth shelter/set-up.

Artists are solely responsible for the collection of any applicable sales taxes.



Art of the Park and Rye Town Park will not be liable for any damage or theft of artists work during the show.



Artists interested in participating in the event should print and mail the artists application form along with a website or photos depicting the works for sale and the registration fee to Heather Patterson at:
